Our story begins in 1856 Giuseppe Sambonet, son of a nobleman from Vercelli, after obtaining a diploma in Fine Arts, obtained the Master Goldsmith's patent and founded the Giuseppe Sambonet company, depositing the hallmark with the the initials “GS”. At the beginning of the twentieth century the company he founded was the official supplier of many noble families including the Duchess of Genoa and the Count of Turin. In 1932 Sambonet, the first in Italy, created a large-scale production plant industrial capable of combining the production of massive silverware with that of galvanic silverware. In 1938 he developed an innovative process for the production of stainless steel cutlery and perfected the technique for silvering steel. In 1947 he began the production of stainless steel knives and blades with his own technology . In 1956 Sambonet conquered the international market: first out of 53 competitors, it won the order for the Hilton Hotel in Cairo with a line of tableware that is still in the collection today. Starting from the 1960s, great designers created collections that affirm and spread the company's orientation towards design. Roberto Sambonet, in particular, creates collections of primary importance, such as the "Pesciera", "Center line" and the "Linea 50" trays, now in the collection at the MoMA in New York. Anna Castelli Ferrieri also designed a line of cutlery for Sambonet, the Hannah collection, winner of the Compasso d'Oro in 1994. In 2004 the architect Rodolfo Dordoni created the S-Pot cookware line. Finally, a special mention deserves the Giò Ponti cutlery, in production since 1932. In 1997 Sambonet became part of the Paderno group, while in 2009 the prestigious German porcelain brand Rosenthal was acquired. The acquisitions of the Bavarian Arzberg in 2013 and, in 2015, of Ercuis & Raynaud, symbol of the elegance and tradition of "made in France" porcelain, saw further growth in the range of products offered. Based in Orfengo, between Novara and Vercelli, the Sambonet Paderno Industrie S.p.A Group is today a leader in the production of high-quality design items for the table and kitchen, intended for both the home sector and the Ho.Re.Ca channel.
